Looking for a laid-back proposal moment in the heart of nature? Or prefer an engagement that is swankier and more fabulous?

Here are some ideas to help inspire you as you prepare for your engagement.

Get some fresh air and make beautiful memories by proposing at one of these outdoor locations.

Take in the grand waterfall at The Water Wall. Located next to the Williams Tower, the Gerald D. Hines Waterfall Park, this is the perfect atmosphere to surround you both in a special relationship milestone. Even though it’s a hot tourist spot, the water feature encircles you in a semi-circle with loud rushing water sounds so it feels like a more intimate setting. In our opinion, this is one of the best proposal places in Houston---which is why it had to top the list! Learn more.

Breathe in the fresh air at McGovern Centennial Gardens. Located in the Hermann Park Conservancy, this is one of the prettiest proposal spots for nature-lovers. Have a low-key day at the park by enjoying a romantic picnic in one of the sprawling gardens and then getting down on one knee. If you’d like something a little different, there are also contemporary art installations featured and fun activity options like pedal boats available for rent in the Conservancy. (You can also get married here, too!) Learn more.

Get animals to be your witnesses at the Houston Zoo. If you want this to be a surprise, then your animal-loving significant other will be caught off guard if you propose at the zoo. And the Houston Zoo isn’t just any zoo. It is home to over 6,000 animals and is well-known for their commitment to conservation. And if you check their calendar in advance, then you may find animal-themed events that feel like a good fit to represent who you are as a couple. Average price is $22.95 for one adult ticket. There are often specials and promotional discounts available. Learn more.

Walk across the Sabine Street Bridge. If Houston is an important place for your relationship, the bridge provides ones of the best views of the skyline. Since it’s also close to local state parks and a variety of businesses, you can spend the entire day together. Then every time you pass by the bridge or see the Houston skyline, you’ll be transported back to this moment.

If you’re a glamourous or adventurous couple who enjoys the nightlife, there are plenty of options so here are some of the best proposal places in Houston.

Pop the question on top of the Ferris Wheel at Kemah Boardwalk. If y’all enjoy the energy of Houston at night, the Boardwalk at Kemah provides a variety of experiences (including a large Ferris Wheel, carousel, and roller coaster!) Since it’s centrally located, you could then celebrate the engagement over dinner or at a bar, all within walking distance. Note that it’s 30 miles southeast of downtown Houston so plan for the drive. You could even plan to stay somewhere overnight nearby and then enjoy the Galveston coast. Learn more.

Get jazzy at Cezanne. If you’re into the local music scene then you’re probably familiar with the Jazz and Blues club, Cezanne. They have a cool vibe, good drinks, and the live music is incredible. Cezanne hosts two performances on Friday and Saturday nights so make sure to plan ahead. Learn more.

Share a romantic moment on a horse drawn carriage ride. If you’re more theatric, the Houston Theater District offers carriage rides. Cuddle up and go for a tour around downtown. Because the pace of the carriage ride will be slow, it won’t be too overwhelming and will allow you both to remain present in an important moment. If you don’t want your significant other to be caught off guard then pair this with an actual show or exhibit and then end the night on the carriage. Learn more.
